Saw several song and savanna sparrows, and a renegade robin feeding at the water's edge. Found two ragged fringed orchises, on the west side of the road. Also, we found two specimens of what I think were calopogons in the bog west of, and behind, the beach. They were almost finished blooming and the blossoms were damaged. There were two blooms at the end of each stalk--no visible leaves, very deep pink, each blossom about an inch across, facing downward. Also, lots of cranberry blossoms beside the road. Hans, what is the latin name for the "little club spur orchid" you mentioned? I can't find it in my book.
