Ken:

Do try, if you can, to record their calls - even with a digital camera
on movie mode. It would useful to know which call types are here in
this recent flurry of crossbills. Get in touch with Andy Horn
<aghorn@dal.ca> if you want some help or equipemt.

Cheers, Ian

Ian McLaren

Quoting Ken MacAulay <kenmacaulay@eastlink.ca>:

> I have a family of red crossbills attending the feeders regularly - two
> adults and three juveniles, which are almost as big as their parents. Many
> purple finches still around, an occasional goldfinch and the robins seem
> overly abundant this year. Hummer activity is about normal and there have
> been several RB nuthatches around just this week. My hermit thrush nest has
> been abandoned and the four young, I fear, were lost to predators. The
> adults are still around.
