Yes, the crows do that with all kinds of their food here. I only feed  
them peanuts now and then, so I imagine the rest is just their normal  
'city' food. We have ponds in the backyard that they use.

At my old house they would use sticks and debris to block the  
eavestrough (at either end a few feet across), making a little pool of  
water. Yes, I would unblock it and they would rebuild. I've since seen  
them do it on a neighbours garage (same neighbourhood). I wonder if it  
was just one smart crow in the family that has passed on because I  
haven't seen this behaviour lately. Of course there has been plenty of  
water for them lately. They are fascinating... Great book on crows:

My niece has a photo of a crow 'funeral' where the crows all gathered  
in a tree above the body of a dead crow.

Watching bird behaviour is amazing.
