Last year and again this year, I have noted a hermit thrush visiting my deck
planters and eating the flowers off my impatiens plants. Has anyone else
noted such behaviour? Last Friday, while preparing for a tour of my garden
by the Atlantic Rhododendron & Horticultural Society, I noticed the thrush
nesting on the ground beneath a rhododendron. There were four blue eggs
when I caught a glimpse once she was off the nest. I put up a warning
notice and happy to say, after about 60+ visitors traipsing through the
garden on Saturday, she was back on the nest incubating the eggs today.
