I had really great looks at the Great Crested flycatcher pair at Adora/
Herbert Parsons' place in Middleton. One collected the fluff to make a nest
in the nestbox and caught flies in the air. Many thanks to Adora Parsons and
Pat Giffin for reporting the flycatchers.

Afterwards, I went to Annapolis Royal and had a good walk around the Fundy
Basin Trail, which was the first time for me. Richard Stern has reported the
trail a number of times in recent months so I wanted to see it for myself.
Today was a good excuse to do that. No question that it was one great place
to visit. Spent two hours watching and studying birds before having to
leave for home. Many thanks to Lois Jenkins and Sharon Hawboldt for
reporting the ruddy duck to Nature NS. Birds sighted (large pond) were:

1 male Ruddy duck in full breeding plumage (its beak was so blue in the
sun!)
1 Coot
6? shovellers
4 wood ducks
4 green winged teals
2 gadwalls
? American widgeons (not positive)
6 Pied billed grebes (with chicks)
barn swallows (few)
tree swallows
cliff swallows
possible bank swallow

Cheers, liz
