Hi Everyone;

I've received a note from Norbert Kondla (one of the authors of the
Butterflies of Alberta), regarding the possible occurrence of two
different subspecies (or species) of Mourning Cloak butterflies in
the Maritimes. He kindly sent me a PDF document illustrating the
two different subspecies. You can download or view the PDF file here:

http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/maybank/other/MOCL.pdf

He is working from specimens, but many of us don't collect
butterflies. You'll need to get good bright photos to be able to
separate the two subspecies if, indeed, they both are proven to occur here.

Just more things to keep track of as we enter into the Butterfly
Atlas. Butterfly taxonomy is in a state of flux. Aren't we all?

Cheers,

Blake
