Dear All, May 24, 2010 The Bugle (Ajuga reptans) on the lawn this year ranges in color from deep blue (usual) to pink (unique to this year & localized). The large Bumble Bees who work this plant seem to be color-blind but the pink blossoms (if I remember correctly that the pink area had wood ash applied this year) suggest that Bugle blossom color is dependent on available Al; deep blue if high, pink if low. Does anyone recall the term for plants with Al-conditional flower color ? Yt, Dave Webster, Kentville
