I counted 2 bunches of swifts very rapidly dropping into the chimney at 8:38 and 8:40 p.m., and they totalled about 50 or more chimney swifts. (I found out later that Wendy Elliott was also there and saw them go in but guesstimated them at about 25 swifts -- it's good to be conservative about "counting", although Wendy might have seen only one of the two bunches that dropped in very suddenly about a minute or two apart.) Weather: sky about half clear, half large clouds, cold/cool strong breeze from west, temp. 14 to 12 C.
