A couple of observations from this past weekend from the Eastern Shore ...

 

On Saturday morning shortly after dawn in the eastern channel behind Conrad
beach there was a large group of Cormorants actively feeding. They were
interesting to watch especially when one would come up with a fish and a
great deal of mobbing ensued. I was also impressed with the size of fish
these birds are able to catch and swallow. Some photos at the links below:

Great Blue Herons are now in regular attendance at several locations
including Lawrencetown Lake, Rocky Run, and the pond behind Grande Desert
Beach. However, the highlight was Sunday afternoon at the southern marsh at
Conrod beach (Not Conrad) in East Chezzetcook when six GB Herons were there
at the same time. Photos of the one I saw in Grande Desert below:
