But I se= e him around during the day, either on the ground, or checking out what's l= urking in amongst the new buds emerging on the trees. Perhaps he might stay= ? Are there records of them nesting in Nova Scotia? Several Northern Flickers, a male Northern Cardinal, Downy, Hairy Woodpecke= rs, Grackles, Robins, BC Chickadees, Song Sparrows, House Sparrows, Blue Ja= ys, and the ever-present Starlings, Pigeons, Crows & Squirrels. =A0 Yesterday, at Sullivan's Pond, there were 2 turtles in the same location as= =A0where I saw a Red-eared Slider=A0several weeks ago, one a little smaller= than the other. I did not have my binoculars, so could not see the marking= s on their heads. =A0 On a side-note, I just returned from Cuba, where I noted the great many Hou= se Sparrows and Northern Mockingbirds. Saw my 1st Ani, Groove-billed, I ass= ume, because of its size, Magnificent Frigate Birds soaring high in the sky= , lots of Vultures, many different Gulls and Terns, a small egret type bird= (looked exactly like a Bittern, the way it stood), pure white with beige b= reast & beige crown, and a number of Warblers and odd lizards=A0with tails = were=A0held in a=A0tight coil over their back. I got a real surprise to see a Hummingbird that was nesting in an ornamenta= l Palm tree right in the busiest area of the hotel lobby! (the lobby's wall= s were all glass doors, most of which were opened to the outdoors) Wasn't t= he least bit phased by all the commotion of all the people around it and ce= rtainly didn't mind=A0having it's picture taken! From my Sibley's I believe= it was a Magnificent Hummingbird. You could have reached up and touched it= ! =A0 Gayle MacLean Dartmouth=0A=0A=0A ___________________________________________________= _______________=0ALooking for the perfect gift?
