The pair of White-breasted Nuthatches that we've had coming to our feeders all winter have decided to nest in the birdhouse in our yard! The bird house is high up in a maple tree. I saw them checking out the house in the winter, poking their heads into the hole but they never actually went in. I thought the hole was too small and they couldn't fit. But today I was pleasantly surprised to watch one of them bring nesting material into the house! I was able to get some pictures of the female in the house and the male outside. She has been coming and going from the house for the past couple of hours. Here are my pics: http://www.pbase.com/cindycreighton/wbnh Cheers!
