This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_001B_01CAD4F1.1FBC6E50 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit John Gilhen and I took advantage of this great weather to look for early spring bugs and herps as we took a run to the Mt Uniacke area and vicinity. Unfortunately John bonked in the herp dept but did hear a couple of wood frogs. I saw my first Cicindelid of the spring that being a 12 spotted C. 12gutatta tiger beetle . Also a bumble bee Bombus ssp ., many bee flies Bombylius major , saw a Polistes sp wasp , and many other thread waisted and Sphecidae hunting wasps. Lep wise I was searching for early Spring Azure and /or Elfins . Even looking for the trifecta of perhaps , Mourning Cloak, Compton Tortoisehell and any of the Comma sp ! But I was surprised with a Cabbage White aka Pieris rapae ! Although not a great lep but a nice early flite record all the same . I could only to my surprise find 1 other record earlier than this for this species in Nova Scotia and that bug was recorded March 20 , 1905 from McNabs Island, Halifax Harbour. I wonder what the weather was like that day ? ? ? Bring it !
