There were still no Cormorants at the Pictou Causeway, but I did see 6 Double-CRESTED Cormorants near the Pictou shipyard- new arrivals as I had not seen any since early January. A drive along the shore road between Pictou and Waterside P.P. revealed a Song Sparrow migration as they were constantly flying from the road shoulder likely because there are a couple of cm. of snow everywhere else. I estimate about 200 sparrows along the drive- 160 Song, 30 Junco, 10 A. Tree Sparrow and 1 FOX SPARROW my first for the spring near the Pictou Lodge. There were quite a few Robins, but seemed out-numbered by the sparrows. At Waterside PP, 2 Yellow-rumped Warblers were likely over-wintering birds. A few Iceland Gulls were at most stops and I suspected 2 Glaucous Gulls at Pier C. The Pictou Harbour area still had hundreds of Red-breasted Mergansers. There were 120 Common Mergansers at Caribou River. The overwintering scaup flock is now in the West River of Pictou. There was a pair of American Wigeon near Weirs Gut. Bald Eagles were sitting on nests at Seaview Cemetery, the Y on the road at Lyons Brook and in Durham. I did not see any of the over-wintering Canada Geese. cheers Ken --Boundary_(ID_HpybB4B1HCQRbQx9xOPaUA) Content-type: text/html; CHARSET=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" http-equiv=Content-Type> <META name=GENERATOR content="MSHTML 8.00.6001.18876"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Ken McKenna<BR>Box 218 Stellarton NS<BR>B0K 1S0<BR>902 752-7644<BR></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>Hi all</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2 face=Arial>I slipped out for a couple of hours yesterday (Mar. 27) near noon mostly to check on the condition of an owl survey route road.
