At my feeder Common grackles, Starlings, Song Sparrows (lots of these).
A pair of Mourning Doves, and the regular Purple Finch, Am.Goldfinch and
Chickadee crowd. Attended by Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers, One Brown
Creeper and the pair of Red-Breasted Nuthatches with Juncos showing up
occasionally the past few days. This has been my busiest month this winter.

In the marsh near River Philip and the Linden marsh are many Black
ducks, Mallards, Hooded Mergansers, Common Mergansers.

I think I will stop feeding the birds when my supply runs out. I do not
feed in the summer and I like to stop before the returning spring birds
start to pick a nest site. I don't want them picking a spot based on the
food supply which is artificial. Is this logical bird thinking or just
me projecting human thinking on to birds? Perhaps the answer is
unknowable because
how many people out there can think like a bird? Excluding any and all
bird-brains. Although according to my Mom there are a few of those
around. Ha.
