Hi Everyone: Nick and I were in CB this week and spotted the usual suspect=
s. However, we can add a new lifer to our list-we saw a Woodcock at Sand L=
ake Road, right across the road from Cathy and Allan Murrant's place. Alla=
n was very gracious and showed us the bird calling, displaying and making a=
ll kinds of noise. At one point it landed within 20 feet from us and even =
with the darkness of dusk, we could see it clearly. Thanks to Allan for be=
ing our guide. Plus he had ruffed grouse in his backyard.=0A=0APlus late o=
n that evening, Allan and I went out to see if we can hear an Owl. We both=
heard a Northern Saw whet Owl. He mentioned that I can add this to my lis=
t but I replied before I add anything to my list, I really would like to be=
able to take a picture.=0A=0ANick saw Green Winged Teals as pointed out by=
Allan who kindly showed him the difference between the Eurasian one and th=
e American-the white line going down the side. On our way back to Halifax,=
we saw several Bald Eagles, 4 Common Goldeyes, 8 Canada Geese, 4 Black Duc=
ks, and 2 Common Merganser at MacGregor's pond near Wagmatcook.=0A=0ANote: =
When we gassed up in Membertou-I asked the gas attendant about white winge=
d Crows. He mentioned that they are always in the lot next to the gas stat=
ion, larger then ordinary crows with white spots or lines on their wings. =
Of course there were none when we were there but we shall keep an eye out =
for them and hope to get a picture. I did note that Salix ssp (pussy willo=
w) were in bloom around the gas bar.=0A=0ATuma=0A Koqwaqja'tekaq'tinej.=0A(=
