Hi all
I did a bit of a walk along the road to the Caribou Ferry terminal at dusk tonight. An AMERICAN WOODCOCK started to call at about 7:45 followed closely by a BARRED OWL giving a couple of hoots. After about 10 min., I could hear a Woodcock in the air doing its display. I did not stay much longer as there was an annoying amount of traffic including 2 very noisy off-road vehicles without lights.
There were no Double-crested Cormorants along the Pictou Causeway although the ice is no longer around the nesting pilings. Still lots of ducks in that area. Beautiful evening-still 9C at 8:30 p.m.
Mark Brennan heard a Saw-whet calling last night in the White Hill area.
cheers
ken
