Today while in line waiting to celebrate St Paddys Day I noticed a bug
zipping around some the crowd in front of me sporting tall green St Paddys
shamrock hats thinking it was a yellow jacket . Then to my surprise this bug
actually landed on two different peoples hats . So naturally being
interested in insects I of course stepped out of line to make a closer
observation to many peoples chagrin of said bug which actually turned out
to be a

Leaf-cutter bee aka MEGACHILE ssp .

So interestingly where it was a leafcutter bee it seemed attracted to alight
on the bright green shamrock hats . Confused ! ? ! Maybe - from the near 13
deg midday sun & heat and doing what comes naturally to this critter that
being searching for leaves ?

Regardless - a nice way to see my first bug of spring 2010 .

Bring it . . .
