Hi Folks:

After a bit of time trying to figure out the problem with subscribing/unsubscribing on naturens, I just switched to an new email.

Yesterday, Nick and I went out to do a bit of birding along the shore road to Hartlen Point. We seen the Bohemian waxwings by the Church where Dave and Mike located them, plus the flock of robins. Too far to get any good pictures. There were also mallards, black ducks, northern pintails at "Cathy's Pond-I believe that is the name of the woman who feeds the ducks, Common Goldeyes, Red-breasted Mergansers, Long tailed Ducks, Starlings, Crows, Common eiders, Herring Gulls, Ring- billed Gulls and Great Black Backed Gulls and other regulars.

However, we did see a new "lifer" for us-the White Winged Scoters (there were about half a dozen) but still too far away to get a decent picture. We must be getting better as we were able to identify the WWS all by ourselves, noting the beak, colour, white spots, etc. Very birder like eh.

We also kept an eye out for our binoculars but alas none was found. We did buy new pairs from Carsand Mosher who are now the authorized dealer for Swarovski in NS so hopefully we will be able to see better then with our naked eyes.

Tuma and Nick
