Thanks to you all who have sent posts in when you see or hear about bluebirds in NS. Since 1990 I have been trying to keep track of all the reports of Bluebirds seen in Nova Scotia. By interest comes from a sighting of a male EABL while on a fishing trip in Collingwood, N.S. in May of 1957. (I then fell in love, and blame the bluebird.) The next one I saw here was in 1990, and in the mid 90s a pair nested in my yard, and fed the young on the verandah roof, right outside my bedroom window! Joy. I concur with most of Ulli's comments, re postings. It is great to share our love of nature, and our observations, whether or not of rarities, on this site. I enjoy hearing what is being seen throughout the province, so if I am visiting my daughter in Pubnico, friends in Shel. Co., the Valley, Pictou County, Canso, Cape Breton, and Cumberland county, or family in Hfx /Dartmouth, I can take some time out to see a visiting bird. If even if I am not travelling, I enjoy hearing what is around. And the documentation is important for scientific reasons. Most of us are very respectful of people's privacy, and would not step foot in a yard without permission. However, I have seen a rare bird being chased by over zealous birders, trying to get another "tick" on their lists (both real and hypothetical), or trying for close-up pictures. We can all be more careful. A public "Thank You" to Graham Hawkins for letting us visit his great back yard to have such good views of the Spotted Towhee. Never did I expect to see one in NS! Is it still around? Cheers, Joan
