It didn't look quite like a sparrow so I slowly walked over to investigate. It ran across the ground and then started moving along the snow-free area next to the foundation. It was my first really close look at a winter wren, even if it was only for about 30 seconds before it went under the verandah and i had to leave for an appointment.
