Our first birds were a very vocal gaggle of Canada geese that flew over =
shortly after dawn this morning.=20
We then went over to Port George and added a number of species including =
ten harlequin ducks, several small flocks of common and surf scoters, =
numerous old squaw ( or whatever they are now) a large raft of common =
eiders, several common loons plus a red-throated, a black guillemot, two =
red-necked grebe, ten red-breasted mergansers, and a mature bald eagle. =
We returned home and found our pileated woodpecker feeding, plus a brown =
creeper and two white-breasted nuthatches, and several hairy and downy =
woodpeckers..
Total species 28, makes for a good start with the annual list.

  Hi all,

My first were several Blue jays, B-C chickadees, White-throated =
sparrows and Mourning doves at the feeders at the same time at first =
light. Also present but a bit later were a Sharpie, a Cardinal and a =
Downy woodpecker. 1st mammals (apart from my dog) were 6 deer that =
crossed the highway just N. of Kentville in front of me as I was headed =
to work this morning.

Last bird before dark was an overflying Bald eagle over the hospital =
parking lot in Kentville.

  Richard
