Hi there, I was speaking to a colleague the other day, who lives on Fairfield Avenue in the south end of Halifax, just up the street from the St. Mary's Boat Club. He told me that the most noteworthy bird he has seen this fall was a fine male Ring-necked Pheasant which appeared about three weeks ago and was regular in the early mornings until last week. He had never seen one in the city before. His home backs onto the south end railway cut, which serves as a corridor for a lot of wildlife, I think. Something to look for on the Halifax-Dartmouth Christmas Bird Count this Sunday! Cheers, Patricia L. Chalmers
