This year's edition of the Geminid meteor shower was heralded for me at precisely 5:00:17 pm today when a very good-sized, very bright object arced its way from NE to SW at an elevation (my guess) of about 70 degs. above the NW horizon here at Hall's Harbour. This was just 24 minutes past sunset and the sky was still pretty bright. Mike McCall
