Index of Subjects Dalhousie University owns one Labrador Duck specimen which came to it with the bird collection of Dr Thomas McCulloch, the first Principal of Dalhousie College (previously of Pictou Academy) and a noted naturalist. I'm not sure of the provenance of the specimen, because the McCulloch collection, now on display in the McCulloch Museum on the 2nd floor of the Life Science Centre at Dal, was his second - the first was sold in the UK to make some money when it was short in Pictou or Halifax. However, I do know where it is now - in safekeeping in the National Museum of Natural History in Ottawa. Labrador Duck specimens bring big bucks and it might well have disappeared had it stayed at Dal.
