--Boundary_(ID_Fw1rSssaJ6Cu3+VtISKZBQ) Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT I was out on an adventure with dog this afternoon and we came a totem pole. I saw a pile of brush that had been cut and thrown away. There were fir branches that had been cut and added to the pile. I was going to check them out for Christmas decorations or if they could used for winter protection for the gardens. Overeall, it seems to be where anything wood goes to die. As we were poking around I found an old, decaying, fungus growing on it, totem pole. It was painted and carved by hand. There used to be an eagle on the top but that was motly gone. The talons were on top of a hat that was on the face that had dog like ears. The face is the most still intact feature. The body is missing- in much the same fashion as the eagle, but there were two 'arms' and 2 'legs' that actually looked like turkey drumsticks. I am a fan of Steven King, I've been reading him since I was in Grade 6. And this was starting to point to the beginning of one of his novels......... So we continued on our adventure. I went home and asked my neighbour to come back down with me so away we went. He was able to pull in completely out of the brush pile and ground. ( It was laying down ) and in continuing the Steven King aspect the story, I cut my finger and of course, it dropped on to the totem. We both decided to leave it there. I took a few pictures that I'm about to put onto the computer. If you send me an e mail to aljoudrey@eastlink.ca I'll send them to you. I'm writing this to naturens in hopes that someone may have an idea of what it was. Or if someone knows someone who may want to study it. It's definately hand carved, hand painted, not masssed produced by any means. Someone at one time took a lot of care and a lot of time.
