NOT SO -- I checked out the above ponds in early evening; besides the usual mallards and black ducks, the only diving ducks were 3 female or immature ring-necked ducks, presumably the same 3 that I reported a few days ago. There were two birders there from B.C., and they agreed on the ring-necked ducks, as did Judy Tufts, who phoned me earlier about my note from earlier in the day. OCT. 3, 2009 - Wolfville Harbour at high tide: along the RR tracks were 15+ greater yellowlegs, one middle-sized sandpiper that was not a dowitcher and possibly was a pectoral sandpiper?, at least 8 semipalmated plovers, and several unidentified peeps.
