Hi all:

=20

Here is a more detailed list of what was on Cape LaHave Island on Sept. 12 =
at Bay Beach.

=20

13 species:

=20

Whimbrel 6

Sanderling 208

semi-palmated plover 47

Ruddy Turnstone 12

Least Sandpiper 25

Semi-palmated sandpiper 1

Baird's Sandpiper 1

American Golden Plover 1

Black-bellied plover 1

Greater Yellowlegs 5

Spotted Sandpiper 4

willet (western) 4 (have pics and will send to Ian to confirm.

Lesser yellowlegs 2

=20

A merlin chasing the shorebirds was cool.

=20

40 green-winged teal

American Black Duck 83

About 300 other ducks lifted off on approach.

=20

The numbers of ducks present suggests an important staging area during migr=
ation.

=20

All ducks raised up when we were about a half km from the island=2C which s=
uggests that someone must be hunting before the season. The ducks should n=
ot be so flighty at this point in the year. I was unable to determine spec=
ies for most duck species as I was too far away. =20

=20

Very few woodland birds which was disappointing. Timing for migration was =
not good.
