I was privileged to visit Cape LaHave Island on Sept. 12. Bay Beach there =
was definitely hopping iwth shorebirds. Highlights of such were over 200 s=
anderlings=2C six whimbrels=2C five spotted sandpipers=2C a Baird's sandpip=
er and an American Golden Plover. A flock of 200 double-crested cormorants=
in flight was also a sight to see. I had 35 species of birds with two Nel=
son's sparrows. I believe this island is an important staging area for wat=
erfowl. I also think that someone might be shooting at the ducks as they w=
ere very flighty. All ducks lifted off when we were still a long ways out =
from the island. There apparently is a huge marsh system right in the cent=
re of the island. I've not seen it yet as there is an expansive wooded are=
a that one has to travel through before getting to it. I counted 83 Americ=
an black ducks and saw a flock of 40 teal. Hundreds of other ducks lifted =
off from the island that were too far away to id. A merlin after the shore=
birds was also another highlight.

Today Sept. 17=2C I found a nice grouping of migrants at Indian path. They=
 included four palm warblers=2C a black-throated green warbler=2C eight bla=
ckpoll warblers=2C three red-breasted nuthatches=2C a brown creeper=2C two =
golden-crowned kinglets=2C a northern flicker=2C 10 black-capped chickadees=
=2C and two American robins. There was one other fall plumaged warbler pre=
sent that I saw only the once and it has me puzzled as to id. It was an al=
l yellow warbler with white on the underside by the rump and no wing bars. =
No eye ring was present. It could have been a female Wilson's warbler I g=
uess. I'll have to check further.
