Hello all,
=A0
At this time of year when there are many young birds, obviously, not in adu=
lt plumage, I'm sure I am not the only one sometimes wondering what types o=
f song birds these are,=A0that are appearing..
=A0
For the last couple of days, there have been a small group of sparrow-type =
birds, a little larger than the song sparrows (but hanging around with), sp=
ending time on the ground of my newly seeded backyard.=20
=A0
They remind me very much of Fox Sparrows, with their deep chestnut coloured=
feathers on some of the body feathers and on their longish tail feathers t=
oo. But, the streaks on their chest and on the streaks on their heads are a=
=A0fairly deep grey colour.
=A0
I've been pouring over my Sibley's but cannot find any type of sparrow (mai=
nly because that's the types of birds that mostly frequent my backyard thes=
e days) that look like these particular birds.
=A0
Any ideas from anyone with this (not so good) description?
=A0
Thank you,
=A0
Gayle MacLean
