AUGUST 24, 2009 - At home in Wolfville I saw a single AM. CROW that
was clearly MOLTING, since it looked like it was MISSING MOST OF ITS
NECK FEATHERS. The neck looked very skinny and gray, showing only
underfeathers with the black contour feathers all missing between the
shoulders and head.

Despite the fact that Sherman Williams heard many waves of PEEPING
MIGRATING SHOREBIRDS OVERNIGHT (wave after wave from 11 p.m. to past
1 a.m.) at his home at Horton Bluff, east of Avonport (birds heading
southeast from Minas Basin), Heather MacDonald of Avonport Beach
reports a super show today of HUGE FLYING FLOCKS OF PEEPS. Perhaps,
if last night was great for migration, another large group of peeps
also ARRIVED HERE last night, to replace the large numbers that
obviously left last night on their marathon flight over water 500 km.
or so to northern South America (Suriname).

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville, 542-9204
