I saw only 19 black-bellied plovers. Birds were= on the move everywhere though. I watched a pine siskin chasing after a mo= th and watched four yellow warblers within a few inches of one another.=20 =20 A trip to Conrads Island at Lower Rose Bay was magical. It is that time of= year when you can find different birds from day to day and the change in b= ird life since my last visit was amazing. =20 =20 The following is a list of what was present: =20 European starling 4 Common Nighthawk 1 Common Grackle 1 American Crow 10 yellow warbler 4 gray catbird 1 song sparrow 4 great blue heron 16 herring gull 13 black-capped chickadee 7 American redstart 1 M northern parula 2 double-crested cormorant 1 greater black-backed gull 1 mallard 2 northern pintail 5 females black-bellied plover 4 willet 1 green-winged teal 2 mourning dove 1 greater yellowlegs 4 least sandpiper 30 common tern 2 Nelson's sparrow 4 only tonight. (two were juveniles) savannah sparrow 10 semi-palmated plover 30 short-billed dowitcher 23 semi-palmated sandpiper 84 white-rumped sandpiper 12 lesser yellowlegs 2 =20 In Bayport this morning I went to retrieve my minnow trap from a marsh area= and 30 least sandpipers raised up. =20 =20 James R.
