Laura and I took a drive after this evening in the fog and mist to see what might be around. We were not disappointed!
We found a juvenile Yellow-crowned Night-Heron at Indian Harbour, in the small inlet adjacent to the Sambro Firehall. Take the usual route to Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park and park in the wide parking area about 50 metres before the firehall. This is just opposite the ball field.

I couldn't separate the species from the similar juvenile Black-crowed Night-Heron in the field but the photographs told the story; a very thick dark bill with a blunt tip and thin striping on the chest and tiny spots on the back.

I'll post photos later on my next upload.

Hans
