Last nite was quite a site to see 3 darners at 9:00 pm hawking mosquitoes &
blackflies on the wing . Interestingly all 3 were females. 2 Aeshna umbrosa
( Shadow Darner) and 1 Ae. canadensis (Canada Darner).

Look out; we might get a lot of mosquitoes with all of this warm, wet
humidity. I hate to hope for mosquitoes, but the birds and many others need
them.... So I'll be happy to deal with it. I think I remember that there
were a lot of "late" mosquitoes last year?

Cheers, Noel Taussig

This afternoon at 5 p.m. a single Comm. Nighthawk flew past our yard.
Guess it has to start early in the day with so few insects around this year!
