Hello everyone:

With the atlassing season starting to wind down, I thought that I
would tackle a square (20LQ66 Lake Paul) that only had seven species
in it to date. As you likely know there was a fair bit of drizzle and
light rain that got progressively worse. Despite that I was able to
find 36 species with 17 possible, 10 probable, and 9 confirmed in 5.5
hours. I finally decided to stop at 1:45 Pm when the rain got to the
point where even the song sparrows were quiet!

I'm hoping that with a bit of help I can do a bit better. I was
walking on one road and saw four blue jays fly from one side to the
other, in pairs. No sooner had they gotten across when I heard the
strangest noises coming from the trees they had gone into. Between the
leaves and the lighting I could not see them all that well, but two of
them were following behind the first pair making loud squeaking
noises. Would they be fledged young still with the parents, or just
blue jays making yet one more new sound I have not hear yet?

UFOs or Unidentified Fledged Objects. I had two of them, one of which
I was able to photograph..Hopefully someone will have a better idea of
what it is that I do.

The second UFO was not as cooperative as it stayed inside the
branches. It was a warbler, mostly brownish and gray, light on the
breast but it had a yellow patch on each flank and the underside of
the tail was also yellow. What was really unusually about it was that
whenever it perched it continuously flipped its tail up and down. That
may not be much to go on, but I thought I would include a description
just in case.

Pat
