Index of Subjects Checked out the Willow Flycatcher which I had found in one of my Atlas squares. The bird was still singing but I did not get any indication it had found a mate. It would sing from the tops of several fairly tall hardwoods and then fly a distance to a grove where I would lose sight of it. However I did not see it carrying food and on a few occasions it would interrupt its singing to sally forth and capture a flying insect, return to its perch and start singing again. In the NE part of the square, I walked some of the trails created by Mountain Biking groups and called the Woodville Trail system. On the Lookoff trail, about 4-5 min from the "Main" trail , I came on a large group of Boreal Chickadees (15-20). It has been difficult to find this species in the Eastern Valley in the past number of years. (This trail system can be accessed off the Burgess Mtn. road and is on the slopes of the North Mountain). This afternoon I heard a Scarlet Tanager singing near our property in Coldbrook. It stayed high in mature decidous trees and I could not locate it. About 7 p.m. my wife saw it in trees along our driveway. Angus
