I took a stroll at Cole Harbour Salt Marsh this morning and the joint was jumping. First off I spotted a Laughing Gull just past the pond on the first sandy beach. There were about 30 Short-billed Dowitchers and 12 Semipalmated Plovers at the first wash through. I managed some good photos of newly fledged Sharp-tailed Sparrows, scurrying between hummocks of beach grasses. They were reluctant to flew although competent to do so.

Also at the first wash through I spotted what I initially thought was a juvenile Little Blue Heron, but this heron was pure white, with black legs, black lores, black bill and yellow feet, and it showed a single long head plume, all field marks for Little Egret. It was moving around and when I last saw it, it was in the extreme western edge of the marsh well off the marsh grasses and in the water. I managed only long distance record photos.

There are lots of the usual cast of characters; Willets, Spotted Sandpipers, Common Terns, Sharp-tailed Sparrows, Savannah Sparrows and Osprey.

Hans
