I was walking in the woods around Herring Cove yesterday evening and as I
entered a clearing, just under my foot a grouse flew up and into the brush
on the other side of the clearing; quickly followed by three, then two more,
then the last three chicks. The chicks were no bigger then a robin and had
no trouble flying.

I was wondering, how long does it take for spruce grouse chicks to fly after
hatching?
