Hi Randy- This just came in from Janet Barlow. Others may also be
interested. Cheers, Joan
PS I like Victoria Park, right in Truro. J

Hi Joan,

I was wondering if you could pass along this workshop information to
your fellow naturalist contacts in the province? Hope you're doing well!
Thanks.

-Janet

LEAVE NO TRACE and HIKING Workshops

In honour of Trails Day in June, Hike Nova Scotia, Leave No Trace Canada
and
local partners are holding three Leave No Trace and Hiking workshops to
promote low-impact use of Nova Scotia's beautiful trails. Workshops are
free and about two hours long
(http://www.rswebmanager.com/documents/63//LNTWorkshopFlyer-09.pdf).

JUNE 6 - Dartmouth Workshop
Hike Nova Scotia and the Fairbanks Centre present a Leave No Trace and
Hiking workshop in Shubie Park in Dartmouth on June 6 at 1:30 pm. Fairbanks
Centre is located at 54 Locks Road (just off Waverley Road) in Dartmouth.

JUNE 13 - Cape Breton Highlands Workshop
Hike Nova Scotia and Parks Canada present a Leave No Trace and Hiking
workshop on the Jack Pine Trail, Cape Breton Highlands National Park at
1 pm
Saturday, June 13. Travel north approximately 20 km from entrance of
park in
Ingonish. Turn right off the Cabot Trail at the Black Brook day use area
and
turn left at T intersection to the upper parking lot. You must register
online for this workshop at
www.hikethehighlandsfestival.com/walkforwildlife.html.

JUNE 24 - Annapolis County Workshop
Hike Nova Scotia, Annapolis County Recreation Services and the Annapolis
Field Naturalist Society present a Leave No Trace and Hiking workshop at
the
Mickey Hill Pocket Wilderness Trail near Annapolis Royal on June 24 at 7:00
pm. Located approximately 10 minutes (8 km) south of Annapolis Royal on the
east side of the road.

Special thanks to Mountain Equipment Co-op, The Trail Shop and the NS
Outdoor Leadership Development Program for donating hiking related gear and
experiences for a "trail prize" draw.

Leave No Trace builds awareness, appreciation and respect for our wildlands
(www.leavenotrace.ca). Hike Nova Scotia is the voice of hikers, walkers and
snowshoers, working to create a culture of hiking in Nova Scotia
(www.hikenovascotia.ca). Trails Day (June 6, 2009) is an annual celebration
of trails to promote trail development, the use of trails and the healthy
lifestyle they encourage (www.internationaltrailsday.blogspot.com).
