Hi Everyone;

This trip was well attended: 22 participants in all, including a few experienced birders who simply wanted to check out Jerry Lawrence Prov. Park.

The morning was cloudy, but the rain held off, and towards noon the sun came out - and so did the birds! After a very slow start, we finally got great close-up looks at Black & White Warblers, Black-throated Green Warblers, Yellow-rumped, Chestnut-sided, and Nashville Warblers. We watched a Hairy Woodpecker fly from tree to tree, saw a pair of Loons swimming and diving in the lake; and heard lots birds singing around us.

The best treat of the day was getting to see a male Black-throated Blue Warbler foraging on the ground about 10 feet in front of us. A close second was an Ovenbird foraging in the same general area!

We were shown a Flicker nest, by one of the participants, in a section of Birch that had blown down, and we heard baby Tree Swallows calling from a newly erected nest box by the parking lot. We tallied 22 species in total. Thanks to Mark Butler, Noel Taussig, Bob McDonald and Elizabeth Doull for their help in pointing out birds to the group.

Cheers;
Suzanne
