Glad that you caught it in time, Doug. It was a very nice pass. I
saw it as it came into view from the WSW. Its light was quite reddish
as it approached but gradually brightened to white light. Just after
it went east of the zenith its brightness became comparable to Venus
(around magnitude -4 ) (the brighter the light, the more negative the
magnitude). The star in the SE that was visible as the ISS went by
was Arcturus, one of the brightest stars at mag 0. As ISS passed
overhead its altitude above us would have been about 350 km.

It makes another visible pass tomorrow evening near 10 p.m., but it
will only rise to maximum of about 31 degrees above the SW horizon.
Its very last visible evening pass will be May 28th near 9:15 p.m. 28
degrees across the SW. It will be well into July before we get to see
an evening pass to match the one tonight.
