On this evening's stroll to Sandy Cove's beach, end of Sandy Cove Road, HRM, I spotted a male Blue Grosbeak alongside the creek within 20 metres of the ocean.  Although, it flew away almost immediately I was able to clearly see the brown wing patch.

There is a peculiar circulation of currents in this area that brings up all sorts of flotsam onto the beach as well as heaps of sea greens and nutrients.  This seems to foster a favourable bird friendly environment resulting in a legitimate bird "hot spot".  Daily regulars here are American Robins, European Starlings, American Crows and various species of sparrows and warblers.
