Hi Everyone;

I drove to Sandy Cove Road around 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 6th, but didn't see the bird. I did hear a bird singing from the bushes on the right hand side of the road, about 50 meters in. Since I didn't recognize the song, I went home and played my CD, and that was it!

I went back the next day, Thursday, May 7th, and within a few minutes, some robins flew up from the bushes on the left hand side of the road (as you face the ocean) East? and with them was a much smaller bird. I got my binocs on it and that was it! Black head, very dark rusty red breast, black bib, one faint white wing bar, only about half as big as the robins with it. It sat on the lowest wire by a telephone pole for almost 10 minutes before it flew, with the robins, back into the shrubs along the top of the hill.

I waited a bit longer but it didn't pop up again. I saw Hans Toom, briefly, both days. He just missed it yesterday! Hopefully he'll be able to get a picture of it soon.

Thanks for posting this notice, Hans. It was only the second time I've ever seen this bird, and I got a much better look this time.

Cheers;
Suzanne
