The goshawk was sitting in the elm tree in the hayfield again this morning. I stayed inside this time, and spent about half an hour watching and trying to get a decent photo until finally he took off in a determined hunting-type flight, coming straight down the hill towards me and blasting into the spruce trees right next to the house. So neat to see! I couldn't see whether he was successful, but he must have left with or without his prey, because the robins and chickadees began to appear again a few minutes later.

So, two visits in one week by a gos - my yard must be in his territory. I'll keep my eyes peeled for nesting activity...
