It is extremely skittish. It's best to use your car as a blind or sit on a rock and wait. As a bonus there is a White-crowned Sparrow there, as well. I got "bird in habitat" photos of both species. Good enough, as they say! There are lots of other common species working the shoreline of the beach and the rocks so additional rarities are a possibility.
