Most of the day yesterday we had a male Cardinal singing in the area.
What a lovely bubbly song! Today Don spotted a Chipping Sparrow, the
2nd of the season. And the first Yellow-rumped Warbler was here today.
There have been several Pine Siskins, and increasing numbers of
Goldfinch and Purple Finch the past two days. We have a pair of
Flickers which appear to be settling into a hole in a dead Ash tree, and
a pair of Downy W.P.s feeding babies in a hole in another Ash tree. The
male Red-bellied W.P. visited to get some bread. When we were sitting
on the deck this afternoon in some almost-sunshine, it was positively
raucous in our yard!
