Index of Subjects
Index of Subjects After the heavy fog lifted this morning, I checked out Palmeter Woods. Quite a few birds were active. - Blue-headed Vireo (~8) - Parula Warbler (1)...seen by Nancy Nickerson earlier in morning. - Hermit Thrush (3) - Northern Waterthrush (2)...none in the alder swamp as yet. - White-winged Crossbill (2 small flocks). - Least Flycatcher (2) - Winter Wren (3....not in full song yet). - Yellow-rumped Warbler (numerous). - Pileated Woodpecker (2). - Wilson's Snipe (1) - Swamp Sparrow (2....singing in the alder swamp near the parking lot). - Eastern Phoebe (1....as reported earlier by Andy Dean at the first bridge). Looks like this will be a good summer for this species; I know of four others on territory near my home in Coldbrook. - Brown Creeper (many moving N to S just at one location). - Black-capped Chickadee (unusually, many still in flocks!) - Pileated Woodpecker (2) - Flicker (numerous) Angus
