This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --Boundary_(ID_LJd9OBwxDw4Poym0yn0/fw) Content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT This morning there was a tightly grouped flock of approximately 200 scoters in the bay just west of Morden. They were too far off for a scoter-type ID although there were white-winged scoters in the air. They appear to be 'pack hunting', staying mostly in this tight formation, diving and surfacing together. At one point they spread out into a 'line astern' formation where I was able to count them. I've put a photo at the link, it's not a clear photo but the phenomena of the tight formation is evident in the picture. There was another tight group of 50 or so a bit farther west. I saw 8 gannets on the bay on Wednesday, three separate groups all headed west. We had a pair of Tree Swallows in the yard yesterday, they did what they appear to do every year, fly around for a half hour or so checking on the bird boxes, then leave to return in a week or ten days.
