We saw American goldfinches, kinglets, (golden or ruby-crowned, I can't remember,) a noisy flicker, palm warblers, a raven, crows, grackles, song sparrows, a hairy woodpecker, red-breasted nuthatches, blue jays, robins, several pairs of chickadees hollowing out their nests in dead birch trees, (see Stephen Cooke's photos on our blog: http://www.birdsareback.blogspot.com <http://www.birdsareback.blogspot.com/> ,) and painted turtles out on the rocks sunning themselves. (Smart turtles.) Also mallard and black ducks. On Monday I saw my first osprey of the season, (hovering but not diving,), yellow-rumped warblers, as well as a small dead tree packed with four growling raccoons. I have had a number of reports of red-bellied woodpeckers in and around the Frog Pond. Rumor has it that they've been there for a few years now. Cheers; happy spring, Noel Taussig. --Boundary_(ID_1QiUC504qw6C2jhZBPh1Rg) Content-type: text/html; charset=us-ascii Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT <html> <head> <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=us-ascii"> <meta name=Generator content="Microsoft Word 10 (filtered)"> <style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {margin:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {color:blue; text-decoration:underline;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {color:purple; text-decoration:underline;} span.EmailStyle17 {font-family:Arial; color:windowtext;} @page Section1 {size:612.0pt 792.0pt; margin:72.0pt 90.0pt 72.0pt 90.0pt;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style> </head> <body lang=EN-US link=blue vlink=purple> <div class=Section1> <p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 color="#29303b" face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt;color:#29303B'>We had a great weekend for birding; I had much fun at the beginners bird walk, Saturday the 25th at the Frog Pond.
