I went to Broad Cove today and was rewarded with the two purple martins and=
a bright male summer tanager. In respect to the purple martins=2Cthe one =
had a much more forked tail than the other. I did not see any other featur=
es which might have set it apart from a normal purple martin though. The m=
artins yesterday had spent the night side by side in the shelter of a small=
covered feeder with a peak roof=2C which I find interesting. They also we=
re checking out a chickadee bird house=2C of which I've not heard of this o=
ccuring before as the bird house is really close to the ground as compared =
to a martin house.

I've reconsidered about what the bird at Second Peninsula might be. I init=
ially thought it might be a blue grosbeak=2C but from the habits and where =
it is at it hit me this morning that the bird is likely an eastern bluebird=
as it is at the edge of a farmers field and is landing on hay bails and go=
ing off them. Anyhow=2C I'll check this out tomorrow if possible and hopef=
ully the bird will still be present.

I forgot to mention that a gadwall also had been in Broad Cove yesterday=2C=
as per Eileen Morrison. It was not there today. I only mention this as thi=
s duck is not common to Lunenburg County.
