Just a couple of nature notes from the Easter weekend. Amherst/Amherst Point/Nappan area : Gadwall with numerous N. Pintail and Amer Wigeon adjacent DU compounds at APBS; a very cooperative Bald eagle on Smith Rd(Salt Mine Rd.).; a pair of House Finches in MacDonalds parking lot Newville Lake had several male RN ducks at mouth of the River Hebert Advocate area: a Barn Swallow, an Eastern Phoebe, large mixed flock of RW blackbirds, C. Grackles and BH cowbirds, small group of Black Scoters close to shore going through some mating behaviours, a Blk Guillemot in breeding plumage. Of special note I found a dead Sawhet owl along a trail near Cape D'or...very fresh and no obvious signs of trauma...apart from being dead. Also nice pictures of some deer at entrance to Cape D'or road Some of the above I was lucky enough to get picts of, in "In Box" http://www.pbase.com/jogden Jeffrey Ogden Integrated Pest Management Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources P.O.Box 130 Shubenacadie, N.S.
